An Esthetician Shares her Best Acne Tips

At Caring Skin, we don’t condone pimple popping of any kind, but if you are going to do it, you might as well do it right. Here’s some acne tips shared by our esthetician.

Know when you pop, when not to, and when to stop

When you have a bump under your skin, but it does not have a head means it’s not ready. You can feel it is there, but you can’t act on it. The thing to do is to apply a warm compress and wait for it to come to a head. This will usually take up to a few days.

If you are going to pop it, use a tool

You’ve probably seen people pop their pimples using their bare hands, the thing is you can introduce bacteria from your hand to the pimple and worsen the infection.

At Caring Skin, we use a comedone extractor to minimize the pressure put in an area and rotate it around the particular area and wiggle it out.

A few things to note when you’re popping it yourself is that when you see a trace of blood, stop immediately. And even if you don’t see a trace of blood, don’t keep going and slow down because you want to prevent scarring.

Treat it once you’ve popped it

Once you have popped the pimple, keep the area clean and apply a topical acne spot treatment cream or solution with benzoyl peroxide or an anti-biotic ingredient in it. It’s totally normal to feel a bit of a biting/tingling sensation because of the open wound. Just make sure you don’t apply any other things like concealer or make-up besides the acne spot treatment. And you leave it alone, the less you touch it, the more it will help calm the skin.

When all else fails, visit a dermatologist

Obviously, if a pimple gets big enough to become a problem, pay a visit to the dermatologist immediately. Because what seems like an innocent pimple may not actually be a pimple.

Horrifying Dangers of the Face “Triangle of Death”, Explained

Here’s a news reported by Pedestrian TV, Twitter user Katie Wright began squeezing what she believed to be an inflamed zit, but the situation quickly escalated to become something else. “A week ago I decided to pick at what I thought was a giant under the skin pimple because it had been hurting for a while and got too painful to ignore,” she wrote on Twitter. “Within an hour my entire face swelled up and HURT. It felt like something was going to burst out of my skin.”

It appears Wright’s pimple was brought on by a dirty eyebrow pencil brush. “I went to the emergency room and they said it was a very serious case of Cellulitis, which is a version of a Staph infection, but instead of having a head like Staph, it effects the deep cellular tissues with no main source to attack,” she said. “Since it was on my face, there was a huge risk of it spreading to my brain or my eyes causing me to go blind. Serious shit.”

The area of concern on Wright’s face part of the “triangle of death” a zone from the corners of the mouth to between the eyebrows. You can read her account here

Popping the pimple might give you a morsel of satisfaction but the Danger Triangle means something- so be sure to take caution of the pimples in that area.
